Episode 3: Nugget Bridge Route 5
(Lv. 22 Cap)

After the mess I made at the end of Episode 2, I sent Lucky and Sky to the grave, accepted my mistake and moved on, that’s not going to happen again..

Nugget Bridge

I take on all the trainers on the bridge with no real issues.

At the end, I get a Nugget… and an offer to join Team Rocket.

I try to accept. (Again)

It doesn’t work. (Again)

(That would actually be a really fun ROM — having the choice to join Team Rocket at this point)

Picked up TM45(Attract) has anyone ever used that?

I turn my attention to the upcoming encounter, Route 24 has six new encounters that I am in desperate need of.

  • Caterpie-Metapod
  • Weedle-Kakuna
  • Oddish
  • Abra

There are six possible encounters here.

I want Abra — obviously.
Kadabra is A-tier, and if I could ever trade it, even better.

But at the same time…
I’ve always liked Caterpie.

Not sure why.
Maybe I’m a Bug Catcher at heart.

Sprout puts it to sleep I throw a single Poke ball and we have a new team member.

Silky the Calm natured Caterpie.

Route 25.

Two identical encounters back-to-back.

After catching Caterpie, there was a chance to get the best of both worlds — and pick up an Abra as well.

It was not meant to be.

I get “lucky” here.

Not the kind I wanted.

At a 4% encounter rate, I manage to get Kakuna.

Useless.

Sleep Powder. Poké Ball. Done.

I name it Pest with a Naughty nature.

Straight into the box.

Hopefully it’s not seeing the light of day again.

Continuing on my Journey trying to find the famous Bill, I battle all the trainers en route. No problems for the team, I do, however, come across a Hiker with a… questionable name.

Strange choice, GameFreak.

I arrive at Bills cottage and find him mid experiment..

My questions are:

  • Where is the Bill version of Clefairy?
  • Does this Clefairy need help?

I reluctantly help him out.

He “Gifts” me a ticket for the S.S. Anne…

and asks me to keep quiet about the whole thing.

After what feels like a lifetime, we head into our second Gym battle — Misty.

In theory this Gym should be as easy as Brocks.

The three trainers in here are no match for my team and we start our battle with Misty.

She leads with Staryu.
I lead with Sprout.

Staryu outspeeds Sprout, but goes for Harden.

I go for the safe, reliable Leech Seed.

Two Vine Whips later, Staryu is down.

Incomes Starmie this is where it could get messy.

Starmie goes for Swift.

I get Leech Seed up — the chip damage, and more importantly the recovery.

From there, it’s the same plan as Staryu 2.0(Literally)

Just a few moves longer.

Starmie goes down.

Sprout levels up and learns Razor Leaf (iconic).

Misty hands over the Cascade Badge and Water Pulse — which I’m sure will be useful somewhere down the line.

With the police officer finally moving, I head through the house or path to Route 5 what is going on here?

I chat to the victim, he complains about the stolen TM.

I would be more concerned about the hole in your wall…

and the Team Rocket grunt who’s stood in your garden.

I deal with the Team Rocket grunt and he hands me the goods…Thanks!

Route 5 doesn’t have much to offer — the Day Care Lady, and an encounter.

Here I’m either getting an Oddish or a Meowth.

Neither is great.

I suppose Meowth could be… alright.

I get the Oddish.

Of course.

Victoria takes care of business.

I name him Broccoli.

A docile Broccoli.

  • Vemilion City
  • S.S. Anne
  • Revenge against Ink.
  • LT.Surge
